But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and
seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and
knowledge shall be increased.
(Old Testament |
Daniel 12:4)
Telestial
Promptings.
Tapping
into Text Messaging, by Kornblum, was a fun and an eye opener article. It gives us a neutral perspective into the
SMS practice and also much information about its technology and practicality. And
it also evidences about its intended use and somewhat questionable practices.
The
moment I started reading Kornblum’s article, I flew through the pros and cons
and started imagining the practice of text messaging itself. The pros outweigh the cons. The first thought
I had was that youth will be youth; and I am quite content with the practicality
and informality of text messages and twits it is like a game and sport for them
until they get bored and it serves its use.
I call text messaging telestial or electrographic promptings like radio
or television tele-signals that give us informal and swift instructions to
guide our daily moves or agendas; yet texting can be time consuming and dangerously
addictive. Because we cannot always
endure his glorious and omnipotent presence, this is the way God talks to us
truths through the Holy Ghost or other mediums. He prompts like text messages, emotional
twits, feelings or sensations that our brain translates into thoughts; and out
thoughts into words. This is how I
Miguel Tap directly into God’s mind and his knowledge distils over my head like
the morning dew thru the power of the priesthood when I am worthy to use
it. How else then could the prophets like
Job know and describe the greatness of God being so far away? It is written:
“ Remember
that thou magnify his work, which men behold. Every man may see it; man may
behold it afar off. Behold, God is
great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched
out. For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to
the vapour thereof: Which the clouds do drop and distil
upon man abundantly. Also can any understand the spreadings of the
clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle? Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it,
and covereth the bottom of the sea. For
by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance. With clouds he
covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh
betwixt. The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning
the vapour.
(Old
Testament | Job 36:24 - 33)
God
shall give unto you knowledge by his Holy Spirit, yea, by the unspeakable gift
of the Holy Ghost, that has not been revealed since the world was until now;
Which
our forefathers have awaited with anxious expectation to be revealed in the
last times, which their minds were pointed to by the angels, as held in reserve
for the fulness of their glory;
A
time to come in the which nothing shall be withheld, whether there be one God
or many gods, they shall be manifest.
All
thrones and dominions, principalities and powers, shall be revealed and set
forth upon all who have endured valiantly for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
And
also, if there be bounds set to the heavens or to the seas, or to the dry land,
or to the sun, moon, or stars—
All
the times of their revolutions, all the appointed days, months, and years, and
all the days of their days, months, and years, and all their glories, laws, and
set times, shall be revealed in the days of the dispensation of the fulness of
times—
According
to that which was ordained in the midst of the Council of the Eternal God of
all other gods before this world was, that should be reserved unto the
finishing and the end thereof, when every man shall enter into his eternal
presence and into his immortal rest.
How
long can rolling waters remain impure?
What power shall stay the heavens?
As well might man stretch forth his puny arm to stop the Missouri river
in its decreed course, or to turn it up stream, as to hinder the Almighty from
pouring down knowledge from heaven upon the heads of the Latter-day Saints.

and Covenants | Section 121:26 - 33)
We
have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost
all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will
immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion. Hence many are called, but
few are chosen.
No
power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the priesthood,
only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love
unfeigned; by kindness, and pure knowledge, which shall greatly enlarge the
soul without hypocrisy, and without guile— Reproving betimes with sharpness,
when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an
increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be
his enemy; That he may know that thy faithfulness is stronger than the cords of
death.
Let
thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of
faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy
confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and
the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from
heaven. The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy
scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion
shall be an everlasting dominion, and without
compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.
(Doctrine
and Covenants | Section 121:39 - 46)
Having
that spiritual capacity ourselves, we like wise have begun to use it to
communicate with each other through text messaging. The technology is divine. It’s the way of the
future. Those who overcome all things, will receive a white stone and a new
name or a keyword. The device is called Urim and Thumim where the user be able
to connect with inhabitants of other planets, prompt them to act and see
everything. It was used in the past to translate ancient languages, but only
select people called seers held them because certain knowledge can kill or
cause us to be destroyed and to destroy.
Now
Ammon said unto him: I can assuredly tell thee, O king, of a man that can translate the records; for he has wherewith that
he can look, and translate all records that are of ancient date; and it
is a gift from God. And the things are
called interpreters, and no man can look in them except he be commanded, lest
he should look for that he ought not and he should perish. And whosoever is
commanded to look in them, the same is called seer.
(Book
of Mormon | Mosiah 8:13)
By
the promptings burning my back or the bug behind my ear, and the rumbling of a
burning bush in my heart and loins, as I write, have reasonable suspicions to
believe that Steve Jobs knew more about this technology than he could tell us. He
might be working in paradise on our ultimate white stones or our personal Apple
or Samsung Urinm and Thumims as we speak for when we are ready for it.
The
place where God resides is a great Urim and Thummim. This earth, in its
sanctified and immortal state, will be made like unto crystal and will be a
Urim and Thummim to the inhabitants who dwell thereon, whereby all things
pertaining to an inferior kingdom, or all kingdoms of a lower order, will be
manifest to those who dwell on it; and this earth will be Christ's. Then the
white stone mentioned in Revelation 2:17, will become a Urim and Thummim to
each individual who receives one, whereby things pertaining to a higher order
of kingdoms will be made known; And a white stone is given to each of those who
come into the celestial kingdom, whereon is a new name written, which no man
knoweth save he that receiveth it. The
new name is the key word.

and Covenants | Section 130:8 - 11)
Education
starts at home. Having five daughters, I don’t regulate how much or what type
of texting messaging they do; they know their taught principles to govern their
own actions. I cannot talk of others, but by experience, in my house, I can only
warn them of certain precautions and to beware of its intended use, but most
importantly, I tell them that there is a time for everting. They text quite often with each other, with their
friends and companion and they do well. It makes me fell little jealous, for seems
to me that they don’t need their parents and therefore, they never feel alone. Texting
is like being omnipresent, in one place at the time, but in many at the same
distilling light in time through influence just like the sun does disperse
light. I see no indication that it affects for worst their home, church and
school duties and responsibilities. I did my share of wicked texting when I
became familiar with the technology until I became bored and diminished its use
to the mere basics. Like Cable or Satellite TV, I think we all outgrow it. It
is a very artistic way to convey thoughts, to capture and share ideas, and for
other formal or informal practical uses. The information we share, can give
parents and children a degree of assurance and peace of mind never before
enjoyed.
Nevertheless,
all things in excess appear to have a harming effect. Text messaging could teach the brain neurons
new patters of communication that can replace and make us forget altogether the
old ones, like communicating orally and even physically. At times, my children speak in so low tone as
in a dialect that we sometimes have to ask twice what are they saying. It also has
the potential to confuse, change and even chop written language until a well
know word can lose its meaning. It can disconnect
the heavy user from reality. As per the
article from Kornblum, it can block other senses and our surrounding
environment to our hurt by bumping or crashing into objects as Kornblum
articles describes. As the article in
reference quotes, “People may be physically present, but they are increasingly
psychologically absent.” (Kornblum p.366) I don’ know if it is quite powerful
to build civilizations, or untangled it, as the article concluded, but it can
be used to cheat and to change culture. Just
the thought of it trills me and transports me in time Nigeria in the
mid-eighties. For those who are familiar with the Nigerian scams, the
technology can be used for identity theft among other abuses by giving
opportunity to cheat to the subtle minded. In school settings: “You can pass
notes to people in other classes.” (Korblum p.367) In Honduras, nowadays, it
has become a cultural explosion. Along
with apps, people use text messaging not only to connect but to stay connected
with their relatives in faraway countries cheaply. It brings me in circles back
to my original point. It gives some sort of peace of mind and assurance that
all is well or not well.
In
the service of God, to magnify his name and increase knowledge and truth on
earth. Sometimes I feel like a little horn with eyes everywhere. We the children of God, when given the ability
to do so, can see everything. I compare text messages and the underlying
technology to money or as the two wolves inside every person. As per see, money
is not either good or evil, only the love for it can determine its proper and
improper use. The one wolf we feed the most, rules, for so it is written in the
scripture of truth:
Babylon Province of Dura |
NEBUCHADNEZZAR the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
(Old Testament | Daniel 3:1)
“And out of one of them came forth a little
horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and
toward the pleasant land. And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and
it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon
them.”
(Old
Testament | Daniel 8:9 - 10)
Babylon the Great |
“I considered the horns, and, behold, there
came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of
the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes
like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”
(Old
Testament | Daniel 7:8)
“But I will shew thee that which is noted
in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these
things, but Michael your prince.”
(Old
Testament | Daniel 10:21)
In
the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen.
